To trace the ancestry of the Vachaparambil family, the oldest we can trace is Mr. Kuncheria from the Maliackal family of Chengalam in the present Kottayam district of Kerala, India. He came to Kuttanad in AD 1760 and settled in Pulincunnoo. Mr. Kuncheria began his career as a merchant, but later found farming to be more profitable and took up agriculture. The rich harvest brought him fame and wealth. Mr. Kuncheria was a God-fearing, sincere, hard-working man with a very pleasing personality...
Like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, but our roots keep us all together. The main branches in the Vachaparambil family are Aresserry (Kannitta), Elackad (Kunnathusserry, Muttungal), Kizhangad (Chirayil, Kannottuthara, Paruthickal, Pazhayaparambil, Ezhappady/Puthenveetil), Mangalappally (Koothappally), Nellithanam, Paracherry, Thekkemalackel (Pallithanam), Vachaparambil, Vachaparambil West, and under Paattam are Maloor, Paattam (Narasnady), and Pathil (Arackal/Padijareveed). But, after all, we are THE VACHAS.
